Prep softball: Cardinals blast Sartell
WILLMAR — Two bunt hits started a three-run rally in the first inning, and Willmar beat Sartell 9-1 on Friday in their final Central Lakes Conference game of the season.
Allie Roehl and Jamie Reyes both reached on bunts to start the game, and after Megan Rudnick was hit by a pitch, Sarah Stadem socked a two-run double.
McKenzie Hastad then hit a sac fly to score Rudnick for a 3-0 lead.
Leah Ruter worked five innings, striking out five to grab the win, and Lexi Kopacek finished up with two scoreless innings.
Reyes finished 3-for-4, and Hastad and Stadem each drove in two.
The Cardinals (6-6, 7-8) finish up the regular season with a non-conference game against KMS on Monday in Willmar.
