Six starters graduated, but four seniors return with starting experience. The infield, except first base, and two outfield spots must be filled. All-CLC Chelsey Wierschem, a two-year starter, returns at first base and can also play shortstop; Brittney Hastad, a two year starter, has played outfield, third base and catcher. Amanda Croonquist is a returning catcher/outfielder and All-CLC Hanna Pederson has two seasons as a starting pitcher. Other senior prospects expected to help are Ally Thompson (OF), Erin Wankerl (OF), Bevin Williams (OF/1B/C) and Kelsey Kotzenmacher (OF). Juniors who could step in are Chelsey Hamann (2B/OF), Katie Switzer (OF), Karlee Johnson (P/OF), Alysha Cuchna (2B) and Sara Banks (OF). Among sophomores who could step in are Sara Kallhoff (SS), Halee Hastad (3B), Megan Rudie (3B) and Alex Linbo (P/2B). Following a six-day trip to Florida, coach Brent Pederson likes the team's attitude and desire but is concerned about the hitting: "We will need to manufacture runs."
