Hutchinson walks away with win over Willmar, 11-6

WILLMAR -- Willmar pitchers issued 11 walks and gave up eight hits in an 11-6 non-conference baseball loss to Hutchinson Friday at Bill Taunton Stadium.

The Cardinals (2-2) also were called for two balks and had two innings where they gave up four runs.

Willmar took advantage of Hutchinson (3-1) mistakes early, scoring an unearned run in the first on a Jordan Smith single. In the second, the Tigers committed two errors, which led to Justin Hamann and Andrew Bangen scoring runs.

But in the third, two walks, a hit batter, a balk and two singles led to four Tiger runs and erased Willmar's 3-1 lead.

The Cardinals took the advantage back with RBI singles from John Sawatzky and Hamann, plus a sacrifice fly from Logan Birkland for a 6-5 lead.

In the sixth, two walks and three singles plated four more Hutchinson runs, allowing the Tigers to take over the lead.

Four players had two hits each for the Cardinals: Austin Adamson, Smith, Alec Saunders and Sawatzky.

Tony Trettin went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI to lead Hutchinson.
