Warriors shut down Cardinal boys, 4-0

BRAINERD -- Willmar suffered first-period injuries and played short-handed in a 4-0 loss to Brain-erd/Litle Falls in Central Lakes Conference boys hockey action Thursday.

The Cardinals (5-5, 10-7) were already short two players and lost Landon Peterson for the rest of the game with a minor injury.

That left Willmar with two full lines and four defensemen.

But Willmar coach Dan Tollefson was pleased with the effort despite the loss.

"Brainerd is a really good team," he said. "Looking at that competition, we were happy with how we played."

Willmar committed only four penalties and didn't allow a power-play goal after picking 10 penalties and four power-play goals in a loss Tuesday.

Josh Archibald scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Warriors (8-1, 15-2).

Keifer Dahle had 21 saves for the Cardinals.
