J.J. Johnson (JV1), Brad Haugen (JV2/9th grade)

Central Lakes Conference: 8-4-1, 3rd place

Overall: 13-6-1

Season/home opener: Saturday vs. Mankato East (rescheduled from Aug. 26), 1 p.m.

Central Lakes Conference opener: Aug. 31 vs. St. Cloud Apollo, 5 p.m.

(Returning letterwinners in bold)

SENIORS: Kevin Keenan, James Liimatta, Jeff Newberg, Liam Johnston, Muktar Dahir, Mason Kluver, Omar Hussein, Seth Johnson

JUNIORS: Graham Dahl, Tim Rogers, Zach Zondervan, Oscar Flores, Abdiladif Ibrahim

SOPHOMORES: Remigio Becerra, David Domingez, Ray Rivera, Preston Peterson

- Jeff Winter, who coached the girls program, takes the reins of the boys program with the coaching retirement of Richard Courtney. Thirteen letterwinners graduated this spring, so Winter starts over with only six varsity veterans, five of them seniors.

- Liam Johnston and James Liimatta are returning all-conference honorable mention players. Defensive leaders Kevin Keenan, Limatta and Jeff Newberg are captains.

- Goalkeeping is undecided. Assistant coach J.J. Johnson specializes in working with goalies. Winter uses a zonal back four defense instead of the traditional diamond defense.

- Coach Winter comments: "I like our depth throughout the program. Our varsity roster is set at 18 but could easily be 25 at the varsity level. That means our JV1 team will be quite strong. We have some great talent among 23 freshmen. We're excited to see foreign exchange student Andres Bangsgaard, from Finland, who just arrived and what he will offer to our program. We have 65 players who are working hard every day to make one of the three teams."

FRESHMEN: Jordan Martins, Alex Sobieck

- Chelsea Brown steps into the top position after coaching junior varsity under Jeff Winter, who took over the boys varsity. Brown has a mature team with four senior letterwinners and eight junior letterwinners, plus the returning goalie, freshman Jordan Martins.

- Sara Kallhoff is a returning all-CLC player while Chloe Donoho, leading scorer Baylie Young and Emily Dowdell each were selected as all-CLC honorable mentions.

- Coach Brown comments: "The girl's work ethic is impressive. Our goal this year is to become a 'passing team' which wears down the opponent's defense. The offense is solid and the defense is deep, a huge advantage. Jordan Martins has worked tirelessly and is a focused and talented young athlete."
