Girls golf: Willmar’s Setrum’s bid for state comes up short
LONG PRAIRIE — Willmar’s Raelin Setrum came up short in hopes for qualifying for the state tournament as the Cardinal senior finished 14th at the two-day Section 8AAA tournament that concluded Tuesday at the Long Prairie Country Club.
Setrum followed Monday’s opening-round score of 91 with a 93 to give her a 36-hole score of 184, just 10 shots behind the final state qualifying score of 174.
Alexandria led wire-to-wire to win the team title with a 688, 27 shots better than runner-up Buffalo. Alexie Portz of St. Cloud Tech edged Central Lakes Conference rival Jenny Muesing of Brainerd 164 to 165 to claim medalist honors.
Emily Thul and Amanda Bigger finished third and fourth, respectively, to pace Alexandria.
The Class AAA state meet is next Tuesday and Wednesday at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids.
