WILLMAR -- A grand slam from Clint Aretz highlighted a Ridgewater sweep of Central Lakes Wednesday in a MCAC Central Division baseball doubleheader.

Six-foot-six freshman right-hander Bobby Arens allowed four singles while striking out five in a complete-game performance to spark Ridgewater to a 7-1 win in the opener.

Ridgewater then got off to a strong start in the second game with Aretz slugging a grand slam to left-center field in the first inning as the Warriors went on to win 6-3.

Ridgewater will look to improve its 6-0 division and 20-8 overall records this weekend as it plays a four-game set with division foe St. Cloud Technical. The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. in St. Cloud and another twin bill on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Willmar.

Ridgewater gave Arens a 4-0 lead before Central Lakes (3-7, 6-20) scored on an error in the fourth. The Warriors then plated three more insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Shane Kampsen and Matt Christensen hit back-to-back run-scoring doubles before Christensen scored on an error in the first inning. Benji Hager's groundout in the third inning then produced another Ridgewater run and Aretz's RBI single in the fifth inning put the Warriors ahead 5-1.

Kampsen capped the scoring with a two-run single in the sixth after Luke Frauendienst and Austen Hadley pulled off a double steal.

After Kampsen walked, Christensen singled and Hager got hit by a pitch to open the second game, Aretz followed with a blast to give Ridgewater starter Mike Weber a quick 4-0 lead.

The Warriors plated two runs in the next inning on Kampsen's sacrifice fly and Christensen's RBI double. Ridgewater collected five of its six hits in the first two innings.

Weber struck out six in five-plus innings and the three Central Lakes runs off the freshman right-hander were all unearned. Cody Johnson surrendered a harmless single and fanned two in a scoreless seventh to pick up the save.
