Knott earns UMAC volleyball honor

Minnesota Morris volleyball player Hannah Knott, of Raymond, earned Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Knott finished the weekend 25 total blocks, averaging 1.47 per set, while not making an error. She currently leads the Cougars and ranks third in the UMAC with an average of 1.08 per set on the season -- 41 overall -- and has just one blocking error in 10 matches this year.

The Cougars were 2-2 stay at the College of St. Benedict's Blazer Invitational.

In each of the Cougars first two games last weekend the middle blocker posted a career high eight block assists, which included a quick three-set match with Simpson, and the big come-from-behind win over St. Scholastica. She also played a big role on the offense against the Storm, knocking down six kills, while swinging for a .333 average, each her second best marks of the season.

Knott and the Cougars open up UMAC play this weekend, hitting the road for a rematch with defending champion St. Scholastica on Sept. 24, before rounding out the weekend with Northland on Sept. 25.
