Northwoods League: Huskies top Stingers in pitchers' duel

DULUTH, Minn. -- Duluth starter Evan Geist held Willmar to one run and the Huskies spoiled Stinger starter Richie Navari's debut with a 2-1 win on Tuesday in Duluth.

Willmar fell to 6-8 in the Northwoods League North Division and are tied with Thunder Bay for fourth place.

The Stingers play the series finale against Duluth 7:05 p.m. today.

Navari gave up runs in the third and the fifth on two RBI-singles by James Ramsay.

Those were the only blemishes, as Navari struck out four in five innings of work.

The Stingers got one in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Max Kuhn, but the Huskies bullpen held them scoreless for the rest of the game.

Josh Biggs and Brady Anderson tossed three innings of scoreless ball in relief of Navari.

Mitch Rowan was 2-for-4, and Hunter Dozier, Kenny Roberts and Steven Brault also had hits for the Stingers.
