Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month on Thursday, Nov. 2, after recording 6.0 sacks over the five-game span.

He has collected a sack in all eight contests this season, tying a franchise record for consecutive games with a sack held by Jim Marshall (1969) and Jared Allen (2011).

Houston Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October, becoming the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to win the award. He joined Barry Sanders (1989), Edgerrin James (1999), Mike Anderson (2000) and Kareem Hunt (2017) as the only rookies to win the league's player of the month award. Watson on Thursday tore an ACL during Thursday's practice and is done for the season, the NFL Network reported.

Not surprisingly, Watson also was named the AFC Rookie of the Month for October.

Watson completed 77 of 124 passes for 1,171 yards with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions in four games last month. The 22-year-old added 21 carries for 145 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for October. The former North Dakota State star completed 89 of 148 passes for 1,247 yards with 14 touchdowns and three interceptions for the Eagles (7-1).

New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore recorded two interceptions en route to being named the NFC Rookie of the Month. Lattimore is the 11th overall pick of the 2017 draft.

Buffalo Bills safety Micah Hyde intercepted four passes in October en route to being named AFC Defensive Player of the Month. Hyde leads the league in interceptions with five, and the Bills lead the NFL in takeaways and turnover margin.

Kansas City Chiefs rookie kicker Harrison Butker made 18 field goals in October to claim AFC Special Teams Player of the Month honors while Los Angeles Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein grabbed the NFC award after converting 14 attempts.
