Morris/CA overpowers Thunder Hawks

Body:

MONTEVIDEO — The first quarter between Morris/Chokio-Alberta and Montevideo seemed more like basketball than football with 35 combined points. The visiting Tigers were able to keep that pace the rest of the way, securing a 49-21 Mid State 2 district win on Friday.

While he threw the ball just seven times, Zach Bruns made the most of his aerial moments, completing four passes for 143 yards and three touchdowns, with two to Camden Arndt (34 and 82 yards) and one to Jaret Johnson (18 yards). Arndt got the first score of the day on a halfback pass to Johnson for an 11-yard score.

Bruns added 51 yards and a touchdown on eight attempts, and Arndt finished with 113 yards and a touchdown on 11 attempts. Matt McNeill also punched in a touchdown while finishing with seven carries and 25 yards.

The Thunder Hawks kept it close in the first, thanks to a pair of Chase Korte touchdown runs from 29 and 2 yards out. Korte led the team with 77 yards on the ground on 18 attempts.
