State Archery event held near Sunburg

SUNBURG -- Almost 200 competitors waded through the tall prairie grass and near the woods to take part in the MSAA State Outdoor 3-D Tournament Aug. 2-3 at the Little Crow Archers Outdoor Range near Sunburg.

The archers competed in 35 divisions, grouped by age, gender, skill and equipment used.

Archers walked the trails at the range and took aim at 10 targets in different locations. Scores were accumulated by where the arrows struck the targets.

The tournament is part of the MSAA's Grand Champion competition, where archers compete in Regional (only one score required), Indoor, Target, Field, and 3-D. The best overall score in each division is declared Grand Champion.

Grand Champions are honored with at the state banquet held before the Indoor State Tournament held in April.
