Conservation Calendar


M1 Garand Shoot -- The Willmar Rifle and Pistol club will be hold M1 Garand Shoots at 6:30 p.m. on June 2, July 7 and Aug. 4 at the Eagle Lake Rifle Range north of Willmar. The cost is $10 per shooter or $8 for WRPC members. The Club will supply M1s, or you can bring your own. Shooters must be 18 years of age or older. Ammunition is supplied.

Sibley State Park

All Sibley State park programs are lead by the park naturalist or visiting expert. They are at the Interpretive Center and are free unless otherwise noted. A vehicle permit is required to enter the park and they are available at the park office. For more information call 354-2002.

Songs of the Forest: 9 a.m. May 30. The naturalist will lead a walk to various habitats to identify different bird songs and discuss the reasons for singing.

Fish features and facts: 10:30 a.m. May 30. We will examine fish parts, fish life, and Minnesota fish facts along with playing the Fish Facts Quiz. This is a kids/parents program.

Remarkable Reptiles: 2 p.m. May 30. Sibley is home for 11 of the 29 species of reptiles found in Minnesota. Learn about snakes, turtles and lizards.

Bluebird conservation story: 11 a.m. May 31. A presentation about the bluebird and what you can do to help it survive and thrive.

Woodland Wildflowers: 2p.m., May 31. Following a presentation, participants will take a short walk to view Sibley's wildflowers.
