Hawk Creek Watershed Project Annual Meeting -- Hawk Creek Watershed Project will host its ninth annual meeting from 8:30 a.m.-noon on Feb. 2 at the Kandi Entertainment Center in Willmar. A meal will be served immediately following the meeting. Hawk Creek Coordinator Cory Netland will present, "2010 HCWP Progress - Achieving Significant Water Quality Improvements in Farm Country." A panel consisting of Kandiyohi County Drainage Inspector Loren Engelby, Kandiyohi County Commissioner Harlan Madsen, Minnesota Viewer's Association Secretary/Treasurer Ron Ringquist, and Kurt Deter from Rinke Noonan Attorneys at Law, a renowned attorney regarded as an expert on drainage law, will discuss "Public Drainage Benefits & Damages - Past, Present, & Future." To conclude the meeting, Stephen Lee, MPCA, will present "History of Environmental Expectation in Minnesota." Continuing Education credits for Certified Crop Advisors are pending. 2011 Minnesota Decoy Collectors Show -- The 2011 Minnesota Decoy Collectors Show will be held Feb. 2-5 at the Ramada Inn/Thunderbird Motel at the Mall of America in Bloomington. Jon Deeter of Guyette & Schmidt, Inc., the world's leading decoy auction firm, will host a special display of historic Midwestern antique hunting duck and shorebird decoys. The decoy display will be presented by the Guyette & Schmidt, Inc., auction company of St. Michaels, Maryland. Guyette & Schmidt, Inc. will also provide free decoy appraisals at the show.
Sno-Skippers Speed/Radar Runs -- The Sno-Skippers Snowmobile Club will host speed/radar runs Feb. 6 and Feb. 20 at the Saulsbury Beach access on Green Lake in Spicer. Registration begins at 9 a.m. each day with runs from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The cost is $15 per racer per class for three runs, then $5 per run thereafter. Radar runs are open to all classes. CURE Annual Meeting -- Clean Up our River Environment will hold its 19th annual meeting Feb. 12 at the Hollywood Theater in Montevideo. The event runs from 5-10 p.m. with the meal served at 6:30 p.m. Featured speakers and guests include writer/producer John Hickman, award-winning videographer Jon Carlson, Minneapolis mayor R.T. Ryback and award-winning documentary producer Larkin McPhee. The cost is $25 per person, which includes the meal. Students and children are $8 each. Vintage Drag Race -- The Sno-Skippers Snowmobile Club will host a Vintage Drag Race Feb. 19 at the Saulsbury Beach access on Green Lake in Spicer. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with runs from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The races are open to vintage sleds 1985 and older. The entry fee is $25 with 100-percent payout. Black Powder Shoots -- The Willmar Rifle and Pistol Club will host black powder shoots once per month in February and March at the Willmar Indoor Range. The events run from 6-9 p.m., and are organized into shooting games, novelty targets and paper targets. The black powder shoots are open to traditional and inline black powder shooters.
