BIRD ISLAND — New London-Spicer lost its opening game in the BOLD Mudhens Tournament but rebounded with wins over Ham Lake and Litchfield to claim third place over the weekend.

NLS fell 5-0 to Hutchinson but beat Ham Lake 9-8 in 10 innings and then downed Litchfield 11-3 in the third-place game.

Against Ham Lake, Trey Austvold was 3-for-4 and drove in 4 runs, Ryan Vraa had 3 RBIs and Logan Brink and Jordan Payne both had two hits.

In the third-place game, Tyson Gislason struck out seven in four innings and picked up the victory. Austvold had 3 hits and Bergeson was 3-for-4 with an RBI and he scored twice.
