Legion Baseball: Willmar homers twice, but falls to Dassel-Cokato

DASSEL — Willmar hit its first two home runs of the season Friday, but a first-inning grand slam set the tone for Dassel-Cokato, leading to a 13-10 loss for Willmar.

Austin Rambow, who was 3-for-4, launched a three-run homer in Willmar’s six-run sixth inning and teammate Brandon Christensen, hitting in the No. 9 spot, hit a three-run shot in the fourth.

Willmar outhit the home team 10-8, but Dassel-Cokato followed a four-run first with a six-run third, which was fueled by four hits and Christensen hitting three batters. Willmar was trailing 13-4 entering the sixth.

Cole Hagen supplied two hits for Willmar, including a two-run single in the sixth.

Willmar fell to 10-8 and has three regular-season games remaining — all of which are 6:30 p.m. tilts at Bill Taunton Stadium — Monday against Hutchinson, Thursday against Alexandria and next Monday against St. Joseph.
