ST. CLOUD — The New London-Spicer Wildcats will face Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton in the quarterfinals of the Class AAA state tournament after a wild 66-46 victory over Annandale on Friday at Husky Stadium.

The win avenges last year’s 20-17 loss to Annandale in the first round of last year’s state tournament.

The Wildcats’ Adam Essler scored five touchdowns, three rushing and two receiving.

The game was tied 38-38 after three quarters but NLS exploded for 28 fourth-quarter points.

It’s a season-high point total for the Wildcats and also the most points they’ve allowed.

For full details on the game, see Monday’s Tribune.
