Girls swimming & diving: Warren finishes second at state in 100 butterfly

MINNEAPOLIS — Litchfield placed 15th and Willmar placed 30th in the Class A Minnesota Girls Swimming and Diving Championships Wednesday at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.

Litchfield finished with 61 points and the Cardinals tallied 15 points.

Visitation won with 300 points, followed by Mankato West with 168 points, Sartell with 161, Hutchinson with 131 and Albert Lea with 130.

Litchfield’s Marissa Warren placed second in the 100-yard butterfly in 56.78 seconds. Mankato West’s Danielle Nack won in 53.41. Nack won the event in a Minnesota all-time record of 52.41 in 2012.

Warren also placed fourth in the 100-yard backstroke in 59.22. Cecelia Hake of Fairbault won the event in 55.74.

Litchfield’s Anika Ellingson placed seventh in the 100-yard breast stroke in 1 minute, 06.84 seconds and Willmar’s Alycia Holwerda was ninth in 1:07.21. Lindsey Horejsi of Albert Lea won the event in 1:00.67.

The Cardinals’ Kennedy Holwerda placed 15th in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.25. Mankato East’s Nack won the event in 23.84.

The Litchfield 200-yard medley relay team of Emma Ridgeway, Ellingson, Warren and Sydney Weires placed ninth in 1:51.51. Willmar’s team of Miranda Kuchta, Alycia Holwerda, Kennedy Holwerda and McKenna Olson placed 15th in 1:53.62. Visitation won the event in 1:46.18.
