Wolves fade late,

fall to Nuggets

Ty Lawson led eight players in double figures with 23 points as visiting Denver notched its fourth straight victory, 117-110, over Minnesota on Wednesday in Minneapolis.

Lawson’s backup, Nate Robinson, contributed 15 points in 22 minutes, while Kenneth Faried went for 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting. Robinson made three 3-pointers to help the Nuggets shoot 8-of-16 from behind the arc, while Jordan Hamilton made a pair of long-range shots en route to 11 points off the bench.

All five Timberwolves starters scored at least 14 points, led by Kevin Martin’s 29 points that included an 11-of-11 effort from the foul line. Kevin Love posted 19 points and 15 rebounds and Nikola Pekovic had 21 and 10 for Minnesota, which has lost five of its last six games.

Wild’s November

home record sullied

Radim Vrbata scored a pair of goals as visiting Phoenix held on to snap its three-game winless streak with a 3-1 win over the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday in St. Paul.

Mikkel Boedker also tallied and Thomas Greiss turned aside 28 shots for the Coyotes, who had gone 0-2-1 over their previous three contests.

Dany Heatley scored and Niklas Backstrom made 23 saves for Minnesota, which was without leading scorer Zach Parise due to a foot contusion. The Wild had been a perfect 6-0-0 at home this month.
