WILLMAR — The U.S. Highway 12 boys hockey rivalry matching Willmar and  Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato — which extends back to 1972, a 3-2 overtime win for Litchfield — resumes Saturday evening.

The Cardinals lead overall (43-27-4) but since 2002-03 the series is knotted 6-6-1 with Willmar winning last year 6-3.

The new stainless Cream Can is now the Stephen Reynolds Cup, honoring the late Cardinal athlete.

Willmar students K-12 will be admitted free and are encouraged to wear a Willmar hockey jersey or red and white. The JV game starts at 5:30 p.m. followed by varsity at 7:15 p.m.
