BENSON — Benson tagged Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City starter Brody Larson for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to top the Falcons 7-2 on Friday.

The Braves improved to 1-1 in the West Central Conference and 2-3 overall.

Benson’s Brady Young and Adam Lindahl were both hit by a pitch to lead off the sixth-inning rally.

Aaron Arhndt bunted for a base hit to load the bases, and Taner Gimberlin hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Young with the go-ahead run.

The Braves added four more runs on three consecutive hits.

ACGC built a two-run lead early with an RB double from Mitchel Macik in the first and a Jordan Fester RBI hit in the second.

The Braves tied it up on a third-inning error and an Ahrndt base hit in the fourth.

Chad Schwartz notched four strikeouts in six innings to pick up the win, and Larson took the loss, also striking out four.

The Braves next play Tuesday at Yellow Medicine East, and ACGC hosts Eden Valley-Watkins on Monday.
