Hutchinson to join Wright County Conf.
HUTCHINSON -- The Wright County Conference will expand for the 2010-11 school year after unanimously voting Hutchinson as the 10th team.
Hutchinson, which has applied several times for membership into the Wright County Conference in recent years, will leave the Missota Conference where it was the third smallest school and will now be the largest school in the Wright County Conference.
Hutchinson wanted to join the Wright County loop for geographical reasons.
The Missota Conference currently consists of Farmington, Holy Angels, Hutchinson, New Prague, Northfield, Prior Lake, Red Wing and Shakopee.
The Wright County Conference is made up of Annandale, Dassel-Cokato, Delano, Glencoe-Silver Lake, Litchfield, Mound-Westonka, Orono, Waconia and Watertown-Mayer.
"Size-wise, it will hurt us a little," said Litchfield girls basketball coach Bill Huhner. "But economically, it's a positive thing for us because we travel so far to most of these other schools."
