Girls Hockey: Fergus Falls blanks Willmar, 4-0

WILLMAR -- Fergus Falls stretched its unbeaten streak to 13 games by beating Willmar 4-0 in Central Lakes Conference girls hockey action Thursday.

The Otters (10-1-2, 14-6-3), who have also won 10 straight games, clinched the CLC title outright.

Willmar eighth-grade goalie Madison Sandberg turned away 45 shots, 20 of those coming in the third period.

"She played six straight periods tonight and she was outstanding," said Willmar coach Rick Dahle. "She played all three periods in the JV game and if you look she had a save percentage of 92 percent. She had 86 saves on the night on 94 shots."

The Cardinals finish the regular season 2-12 in the league and 7-17 overall. They host St. Peter/Le-Sueur-Henderson/Montgomery-Lonsdale in the first round of the Section 2A playoffs Thursday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. (See Page B-1).
