Prep Baseball: RCW nips TMB in opener, 2-1

TRACY -- All three runs in the season opener were scored with two outs as Renville County West nipped Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 2-1 in a Camden Conference baseball game on Friday.

Each team managed only four hits in the cool weather.

It was 1-1 in the fourth inning when the Jaguars' Brian Harper singled, stole second and scored when he stole third and the throw went into left field.

RCW, which had one outdoor practice prior to the game, went up 1-0 in the top of the first. Trent Novotny was hit by a pitch and came around on Dakota Freiborg's double to the right-center field gap.

The Panthers tied it 1-1 with an unearned run in the second inning as the Jaguars made all three of their errors in that inning.

Adam Loe hurled the first three innings, walking one and fanning five. Ben Trochil threw two hitless innings and got the win, while Freiborg threw scoreless ball the final two innings for the save.

The Panthers got strong innings from Alex Jones, who absorbed the loss, and Isaac Dolan.
