Baseball: ACGC tops YME

GROVE CITY -- Jordan Tanner struck out 14 hitters to help Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City edge out Yellow Medicine East 7-6 in eight innings Thursday during a West Central South Conference game.

Tanner gave up 11 hits and four earned runs during his eight innings of service for ACGC. He also went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Losing pitcher Dylan Lindstrom filled in for YME's Travis Enger after he gave up five runs in five innings. Offensively, Enger tallied two of the Sting's 11 hits, while also driving in a run.

ACGC's Brooks Maurer had another multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Mitch Tauer and Joel Slinden both drove in a run for the Falcons.

Baxter DuFrane's double in the top of the seventh gave the Eagles (4-1, 4-3) a 4-2 lead.

Cory Holten of Minnewaska hit an RBI single in the bottom of the inning, but the Lakers (2-4, 2-6) could not get the tying run home.

Scott Bormann hit a solo home run in the third for LQPV. Tronn Tosel went 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead the team.

Taylor Kollman launch-ed a solo homer in the sixth inning for the Lakers.

Montevideo 8, Morris 7

A three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh lifted Montevideo to its second win in three days after a 0-5 start.

It was the first loss for the Morris Tigers, who led 7-3 in the fourth.

The Thunder Hawks (2-4, 2-5) trailed 7-5 after six. Eric Riley, starting his second inning of relief, had control problems and walked in one run. Troy Hendrickson followed with a bases-loaded single through the middle to score the tying and winning runs with no outs.

Mitch Christensen, who scored the winning run, got the win in relief with three innings of one-hit, one-run pitching.

Chris Boettcher doubled twice and tripled for the Tigers (3-1, 3-1). Dusty Sauter drove in three runs with his two hits while Nate Gades singled and tripled for two RBI.
