Prep Baseball: Kampsen powers Paynesville

GRANITE FALLS -- Paynesville sluggers rode the wind to a 11-1 victory over Yellow Medicine East at Richter Stadium on Tuesday.

Shane Kampsen cracked a three-run homer in the first and led off the third with another long homer into the Minnesota River.

Kampsen also singled and doubled and ended up with six RBI.

Aaron Savelkoul, who was 3-for-4, smacked a two-run homer in a five-run fourth by the Bulldogs (11-2, 12-3).

Nathan Nietfeld hurled a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

Travis Enger had two hits for YME (5-9, 6-10).

Montevideo 3, Benson 1

Montevideo (4-9, 5-11) scored three runs off groundouts to win a pitcher's duel between Josh Fenske and Jed Eix of Benson.

Both pitchers only gave up three hits in six innings of work. Fenske earned the win. Mitch Christensen relieved him in the seventh.

Christensen, Michael Haff and Ryan Tostenson drove in Montevideo's three runs.

Cameron Simmonds went 2-for-2 with an RBI for Benson (1-12, 2-14).
