WILLMAR — The Hutchinson Legion baseball team scored five fifth-inning runs to erase a Willmar lead and Post 96 scored three more runs late to win 10-3 on Tuesday in both teams’ season opener at Baker Field.

Willmar plays host to Montevideo at 6:30 p.m. today at Baker.

Hutchinson scored twice in the first and Willmar answered with two of its own to tie the game in the bottom of the first.

Willmar starter Josh Warne and Hutchinson’s Paxton Jordahl settled in after that, and Post 167 scored the go-ahead run in the fourth when Brett Swanson singled with two outs and came around to score.

But Hutchinson had seven hits in the fifth — four coming with two outs — to gain some cushion.

Post 96 tacked on another run in the sixth and two more in the seventh.

Willmar’s Tony McCleary and Adam Nibaur both were 2-for-4 and Swanson, Cole Christianson, Josh Tinklenberg and Brandon Christianson had Willmar’s other hits.
