Legion Baseball: Willmar edges Litchfield

LITCHFIELD — Brandon Christianson drove in three runs and Cole Christensen struck out five of the six batters he faced as the Willmar Legion outlasted Litchfield 8-7 on Tuesday at Optimist Field.

Willmar trailed by a run before scoring three runs in the seventh, thanks to run-scoring singles from the Brandon Christianson and Cole Christensen, to take an 8-6 lead.

Willmar starter Josh Warne worked seven innings for the victory and Cole Christensen pitched the final two innings to earn a save.

Brandon Christianson on was 3-for-5 and Tony McCleary was 4-for-5.

Cody Klabunde had three hits and Carson Deal was 2-for-4 for Litchfield.

Willmar opens play in the St. Cloud Chutes Tournament against Sauk Rapids at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in St. Cloud.
