Area Baseball: Lindstrom drives home Granite’s game-winner in 10th

GRANITE FALLS — Blake Lindstrom’s single to center field brought home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Granite Falls Legion team defeated Sacred Heart/MACCRAY 4-3 on Tuesday.

In the bottom of the 10th Zach Fischer drew a walk, was sacrificed to second, reached third on Derrick Grund’s single and, after a walk loaded the bases, Lindstrom’s single ended the game.

Lindstrom drove in two runs, Chris Jensen also had an RBI and Grund was 2-for-4.

Granite Falls pitcher Dylan Johnson worked all 10 innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits while striking out four.

SH/M’s Dylan Abraham had three hits and drove in a run and Andrew Schultz also had an RBI.

Tyler Moffenbier took a tough loss, pitching into the 10th innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out seven.

Granite Falls opens the Legion playoffs next week.

New London-Spicer scored three runs in thr first inning and solid relief pitching by Ryan Vraa made the lead stand in a victory Tuesday at Green Lake Diamond in Spicer.

Wyatt White had three hits and drove in a run and Michael Arnold was 2-for-3 and drove in three runs to support starter Jonny DeGeest and Vraa.

DeGeest’s back seized up after three innings and Vraa allowed a run on three hits in four innings of relief.

NLS plays host to Tri-Town at 8 p.m. Thursday at Green Lake Diamond.

The Mudhens improved to 8-2 after thrashing Eden Valley-Watkins Tuesday in Watkins. BOLD already led 7-0 after four innings before erupting for 14 runs in the fifth.

Five Mudhens collected two hits each in the fifth: Lane Stadther, Trevor Nissen, Riley Kramer, Logan Sandgren and Ben Steffel. The big blow came from Kramer’s grand slam and Steffel also homered in the frame. Nissen’s two hits were a pair of RBI singles while Kramer, Sandgren and Steffel also singled in runs during the 17-at bat inning.

Sandgren struck out 11 and gave up just two hits while walking four in a complete-game victory.

Stadther paced the 20-hit attack with a 4-for-4 performance. Kramer, Sandgren and Steffel collected three hits each and Trent Athmann knocked in three runs with a two-run single in the third and an RBI single in the fifth.

Eden Valley-Watkins pounded out 18 hits and had a pair of five-run innings to overpower the Black Sox Tuesday in Watkins.

Colton Minnick drove in three of Tri-Town’s runs with an RBI single in the third and a two-run homer to left field in the fifth. Cullen Hoffmann scored on both plays after reaching with singles. Derek Dengerud, who pitched the entire game, walked and came home on Brody Larson’s single in the third for Tri-Town’s other run.

Prinsburg’s nine-run sixth put an end to its game against Kerkhoven on Tuesday.

Nick Daugherty drove in three runs and Austin Bulthuis homered and drove in two for Prinsburg, which improved to 5-4 overall.

Tanner Stoel, T.J. Stoel and Noah Wubben also drove in two runs. T.J. Stoel allowing one earned run and struck out eight for the win.

Kerk’s Jordan Engler was 2-for-3, both hits going for doubles, and Rylan Hatlestad drove in a run.

Marshall 4

Jeremy Hinderks doubled in the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth and Matt Koenen finished off Marshall in the bottom of the inning on Tuesday in Marshall.

Ryan Hebrink walked with one out and Hinderks followed with his RBI double to right-center field.

Koenen surrendered 10 hits but shut down Marshall over the final three innings for the complete-game victory.

Hinderks had two hits and drove in two runs and Ryan Fransen had a pair of hits for Sacred Heart.

Willmar managed to score in the third and seventh innings, while Starbuck got help from a pair of three-run frames.

Trae Murphy tripled and scored on an error in the third, and doubled in the seventh, the same inning Garrit Kooistra singled and scored on Sam Vreeman’s flyball to center field.
