Softball: KMS jump all over Ortonville

MURDOCK -- Brooke Carlson tapped out four singles and Ellen Johnson singled and tripled as Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg celebrated its opener by drilling Ortonville 11-1 on Monday.

The Fighting Saints, who piled up eight runs in the first inning, used three pitchers. Sam Dunn threw three perfect innings with six strikeouts for the win.

Carlson, Johnson, Briana Baker, Dunn, Britta Diem and Lindsey Jorgenson all drove in runs.

The Saints ended the game early by scoring two runs with one out in the bottom of the fifth.

KMS launches Camden Conference play today hosting Minneota/Canby in a twin bill at Murdock.

Mercedes Klimek's one-out single in the ninth inning scored the winning run to lift Osakis and ruin BBE's season opener.

Michelle Sanders gave the Jaguars a 6-5 lead in the seventh inning with a bunt single that scored a run, but Osakis came back to send the game into extra innings with a run in the bottom of the inning.

Laura Johnson hit a two run single in the second inning for BBE.

Anna Marthaler and RaeAnn Sorenson had two hits each for the Jaguars. Sanders took the loss, allowing nine hits, striking out two and walking three.
