Prep Baseball: Schleper fuels Paynesville rally past Minnewaska

PAYNESVILLE -- Jordan Schleper hit a solo homer run leading off the bottom of the second inning to tie the game 2-2 and start Paynesville on the road to a 6-2 West Central South Conference victory Tuesday over Minnewaska.

Jon Solum had a run-scoring double to highlight a three-run fourth inning that ended with the Bulldogs up 4-2.

Schleper pitched a four-hitter as the Bulldogs (4-3, 6-3) ended a two-game skid. He walked two and fanned three. Devon Savage had two of the six Paynesville hits.

The Lakers got both runs in the second on a two-run single by Kameron Drange. Trenton Berg absorbed the loss for the Lakers (7-3, 8-4).

Eric Paulson and Blair Tostenson combined to hold Montevideo to five hits. Paulson worked the first five innings to get the win while Tostenson tossed two hitless innings of relief.

The Lac qui Parle Valley offense was paced by Sam Haas' two-run double and Brandon Weber's RBI double and RBI single.

Brett Bergeson hit a solo home run and Tyler Kuno added an RBI single for Montevideo.

Brandon Weber slugged a two-run homer in the first and added a solo homer in the fifth for the Eagles (9-1, 9-2). Weber also scored the winning run in the seventh when Joey Schreck singled to right-center field with two outs.

Schreck got the win in relief of Sam Haas by throwing three scoreless innings.

Montevideo (2-8, 3-9) had Joe Bednar single in two runs in the fourth, Brett Bergeson double in a run in the third and Tanner Lindemann single in a run in the third.

Krause walked two and struck out 12 in going the route for the win.

Pierz (1-6, 2-9) put the game out of reach with a four-run splurge in the fourth inning. Dylan Kummet poked a two-run double in the rally.

Boser walked two and fanned six.

Brent Koehler took the loss. He gave up six runs, but only three were earned as the Jaguars (3-5, 4-8) committed six errors.

Brandon Roelike's solo home runs in the fourth was BBE's only hit.

Alex Geislinger allowed only five base runners as he threw a four-hitter to outduel ACGC starter Trever Heining. Geislinger struck out four without issuing a walk and Heining scattered six hits and six walks whiling not giving up an earned run and striking out six in a complete-game performance.

Heining, Mitch Tauer, Dylan Rossell and Tyler Minnick singled to account for ACGC's four hits. Only two base runners reached second for the Falcons (1-10).

Brendan Ashton paced the Eagles (7-2) by going 3-for-3.
