RAYMOND -- Trailing visiting Yellow Medicine East 2-1 heading to the bottom of the sixth, the MACCRAY Wolverines detonated a five-run explosion to win the non-conference meeting 5-2 on Monday.

Rachel Davids and Jennifer Sommers ignited the uprising with back-to-back singles, followed by a Sting error and then an RBI hit by Taylor Grussing, her third hit of the game. Molly Friese and Hailey Goman also struck RBI hits and a fifth run was forced home on a walk.

Each team scored a run in the first. Allie Trudel, the losing pitcher, hit a sacrifice fly to score Mollie Nielsen, who had reached on a single, for a 2-1 YME lead in the fourth.

Erica Bonnema's double scored a run for MACCRAY in the first.

Winning pitcher Goeman threw a 5-hitter with 9 walks and 9 strikeouts.

MACCRAY improved to 4-1 overall.
