WILLMAR -- Brainerd broke out hot bats in Willmar on Thursday, scoring a combined 23 runs to take a doubleheader from Willmar at the high school.

Brainerd won the first game 12-2 in six innings and also won 11-1 in five innings in Game Two.

Willmar managed just three hits in both games.

Addy Nelsen hit a solo homer in the first game, and Sarah Roehl and Casey Marcus also had hits.

The Game Two, Nelsen, Laura Swartz and Kassy Linbo had the Cardinals' hits.

Brainerd's Nikki DeChaine homered in both games and ended the day with five hits and six RBI. Pitcher Nikki Anderson worked both games and finished with 23 strikeouts.

Willmar, now 4-4, plays Rocori in a single game at 5 p.m. on Thursday in Willmar.
