Prep softball roundup: KMS sweeps Dawson-Boyd

DAWSON -- The KMS softball team hit six home runs and the Saints improved to 16-0 with a sweep of a Camden Conference doubleheader on Tuesday.

KMS won Game One 10-3 and Game Two 11-0.

And the Saints' power wasn't reserved for the offense alone.

Game Two starter Erin Haglund threw a five-inning perfect game, striking out five, and Game One starter Sam Dunn worked a complete game, allowing three earned runs and striking out nine.

KMS' Ellen Johnson hit three home runs and had a possible fourth bomb caught over the fence by Dawson-Boyd's center fielder.

"When we came off the field (after Game Two), they said we should be tested for steroids," KMS head coach Eileen Suter said with a laugh.

In Game One, Johnson and Courtney Johnson both hit two-run homers, and eight players had at least one hit.

In Game Two, Johnson hit two more homers, both two-run shots, after she had a drive caught at the fence in her first at-bat.

Dunn and Lindsay Jorgenson both hit a two-run homers in the third inning.

The Saints play next at Lac qui Parle Valley at 5 p.m. Thursday.
