WILLMAR -- The Cardinals had a tough time weathering the Storm Monday as Chanhassen swept Willmar 25-19, 25-13, 25-17 in a non-conference match between two Section 2AAA teams.

Chanhassen (6-3), ranked No. 8 in the latest Class AAA coaches' poll, plays in a loaded Missota conference and never let Willmar find a rhythm en route to winning its third straight.

"Chanhassen is really well-rounded, something we're not use to seeing," said Willmar coach Traci Grussing. "We had flashes where we played really well, but we would let them go on a big run and not get out of it."

Emily Minnick put down 11 kills for Willmar, which fell to 2-2, while Leah Ruter collected another 5 and Dani Rosen and McKenzie Hastad 4 each.

Taylor Grussing piled up 24 assists and had one of Willmar's only two ace serves; Hastad had the other. Minnick added 2 ace blocks and Allie Roehl led the team with 11 digs.

The Cardinals host Alexandria today in a Central Lakes Conference match.
