Girls soccer: Otters rally past Cardinals

FERGUS FALLS -- Willmar's Shelby Schneider scored 13 minutes into the game, but Fergus Falls came back to beat the Cardinals 3-1 on Thursday in Fergus Falls.

Schneider, with an assist from Jennyfer Jimenez, took a shot from far outside the penalty area that sailed over the goalie's head and into the net.

The Otters tied it at 35 minutes with a goal from Lauren Norgren, and took the lead 17 minutes into the second half on another Norgren goal.

Brittany Kollman padded the Otters' lead with a goal in the 38th minute.

Fergus Falls had 23 shots on goal against Willmar's seven.

"We really fought hard thorugh the entire game," Willmar head coach Chelsea Brown said. "It was a very even game. The result did not show how well we played."

The Cardinals play 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Cloud Tech.
