Girls Soccer: Sabres slice up Cards

SARTELL -- The Sartell Sabres slashed through a disabled Willmar defense for five goals in the game's first 35 minutes to roll to a 5-0 victory in Central Lakes Conference match Thursday.

Already without Abygayl Nevarez (shoulder) and Lauren Sing (knee), Willmar lost Brittany Serbus when she took a kicked ball flush in the face from about four feet. She was diagnosed with a concussion and is out indefinitely said head coach Chelsea Brown.

Brown hopes to be able to restock the defense by Saturday when the Cards travel to Mankato West, the top-rated team in the section (2A0.

Willmar (0-8-1, 3-9-1) is 3-1 versus section foes.

Card keeper Jordan Martins made 13 stops against the Sabres (5-3-2, 8-3-2).
