Boys Soccer: CMCS earns tie on road

PAYNESVILLE -- A late goal from Matthew Van Eps allowed Central Minnesota Christian to tie up Chain of Lakes 2-2 Thursday in a non-conference match.

The Roosters, made up of players from the Eden Valley-Watkins, New London-Spicer, Paynesville and Rocori school districts, scored in the game's fourth minute to take a quick 1-0 lead. There would be no more scoring in the first half.

The Bluejays tied it up when Nick Daugherty assisted Tyler Wieberdink's goal in the 55th minute. The Roosters struck 10 minutes later with Trevon Mattson's goal before Van Eps knotted the game with just two minutes remaining.

No overtime was played.

CMCS outshot Chain of Lakes 8-4. The Bluejays travel south Saturday to Edgerton to play Southwest Minnesota Christian.
