Prep Tennis: Benson falls in section; Minnewaska plays in semifinals today

SARTELL -- The Sauk Centre girls tennis team ended Benson's season in the quarterfinals of the Section 6A tournament on Wednesday at the Fitness Evolution club.

The Mainstreeters swept four singles matches and picked up another win at 3-doubles.

The Braves' Susan Zniewski and Kelsey Rajewsky won in three sets at 1-doubles and Benson's Megan Vergin and Kendra Dingmann also won a three-setter at 2-doubles.

In today's semifinals, Minnewaska plays Osakis at 8 a.m. and Melrose plays Sauk Centre at 9:30 a.m.

Minnewaska defeated Long Prairie-Grey Eagle 6-1, Osakis knocked off West Central Area 7-0 and Melrose advanced with a 6-1 win over Parkers Prairie.
