Prep football: Featured area games

KMS (2-2 3-3) at Royalton (2-2 4-2)

The Saints need to get back on track following two straight losses.

KMS' Jordan Rothers is among the area rushing leaders but the offense has shown the potential to muster more. And the Saints can really boost their confidence heading into a regular season-ending game against 5-1 Upsala/Swanville next week.

Morris/CA (6-0 6-0) at LQPV (3-3 3-3)

The Tigers have to guard against a let-down after rumbling through the West Central Conference with BOLD all season. LQPV beat Benson to open the season and suffered understandable losses to BOLD and ACGC. But the Eagles will be primed to show they're a better team than the one that Paynesville blanked 28-0 last week. Lucas Mortenson (568 rushing yards, 6 TDs), JD Stuxness (341 yards) and quarterback Dylan Erickson (479 yards, 6 TDs) can be a formidable backfield.

Delano (3-1 4-2) at Litchfield (1-2 3-3)

The Dragons made an admirable comeback last week to win against Dassel-Cokato after falling behind by two scores in the first quarter. Will that carry over?

A win against Delano -- which is in the Wright County East Division -- would be telling.

Zach Kinny is a solid quarterback, with almost 1,000 passing yards so far. But the Dragons will have to shore up a somewhat leaky defense that is allowing an average of four touchdowns per game.

BBE (3-2 3-3) at Pierz (4-1 5-1)

The Jaguars took a big step towards powering up for the playoffs with their upset of state-ranked Maple Lake last week.

There's little chance BBE will make a run at a Central Minnesota Conference title this late in the season, but the Jags can pull into a tie with the Pioneers and build further momentum for the postseason with a big road win tonight.
