Girls swimming & diving: Litchfield's Warren takes silver in 100 backstroke
MINNEAPOLIS -- Litchfield's Marissa Warren placed second in the 100 backstroke, the highest finish of area competitors, at the girls Class A Swimming and Diving Championship on Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
Warren swam a 57.67 in the backstroke, beating her prelim time of 57.91. She also placed third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.70.
Bridget Opdahl of Morris/Minnewaska had two fifth-place finishes, swimming a 24.33 in the 50 freestyle and a 53.75 in the 100 freestyle.
Litchfield's Anika Ellingson came in sixth place in the 100 breaststroke at 1:07.34.
Litchfield also had teams swimming in the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay. The medley team of Greta Walsh, Ellingson, Warren and Montana Linsmeier finished 11th. Sydney Weires, Emma Ridgeway, Walsh and Linsmeier finished 16th in the freestyle.
