RENVILLE — The Yellow Medicine East Sting got their first win on Monday night in the high school gym in Renville.

Blake Lindstrom led the point parade with 21 points as the Sting beat Renville County West 78-40.

Nine players scored 4 points or more for the victors on the road.

The win ended an 8-game losing streak to start the season and an overall losing streak of 10 going back to last season.

The Jaguars (1-9) have had their own difficulties winning this season.

It was close through the opening minutes but a 12-point run put the visitors up 23-9.

Austin Vikander added 12 points for YME, center Logan DeBlieck 10 and Nate Anderson and Jacob Peterson 8 apiece.

The Sting made 7 of 11 from 3-point distance and shot 50 percent overall.

In contrast, the Jaguars shot just 26 percent and were badly out-rebounded by their Class AA neighbors, 39-21.

Mitch Treml led the scoring again for RCW with 23 points. Ian Engstrom added 10 points and Griffin Schaub 5 points plus 5 assists.

YME is back in Granite Falls on Thursday to host West Central foe Morris/CA while RCW returns to Camden play tonight hosting the RTR Knights.
