Boys hockey: Tech sinks River Lakes on late goal

ST. CLOUD — A power-play goal late in the third period lifted St. Cloud Tech past River Lakes 2-1 Tuesday in a Central Lakes Conference game.

One goal was scored in each period with the Tigers scoring late in the first period and River Lakes tying the game at 1-1 when Jake Herges scored an even-strength goal at the 11:17 mark of the second.

The Tigers outshot River Lakes 40-18. Chris Skluzacek was the hard-luck loser in net, even after making 19 saves in shutting out Tech in the second period.
