Local Roundup: United, BOLD fall in prep wrestling sections

MARSHALL — United wrestling fell short in a comeback attempt against Redwood-River Valley Thursday night, losing 39-36 in Marshall.

Redwood-River Valley dominated the early weights, taking seven of the first nine events, but United battled back later in the event. Colton Struxness (170), Cole Bungarden (220) and Mason Hutt (285) all recorded pins in less than two minutes. United won the final five matches but couldn't complete the comeback.

A four-goal spurt in the second period led St. Cloud to a win over River Lakes on Thursday at the National Hockey Center at St. Cloud State University.

Tied at 1 entering the second, Nick Portz scored twice in the first five minutes, both on assists from Brad Amundson, and Noah Bissett and Amundson scored later in the period for a three-goal lead. Amundson added his second goal in the third.

River Lakes' Jack Kuhlman, Blake Peterson and Luke Johnson scored the Stars' goals.
