Local Roundup: Dragons' Prahl wins 6A tennis championship
ST. JOSEPH - Litchfield tennis player Josh Prahl won the Section 6A individual championship and Dragons' teammates Jordan Green and Jon Madsen placed second in doubles on Tuesday to earn spots in next week's Class A state tournament.
Litchfield won the 6A team championship last week and will open the Class A state tournament against St. Paul Academy at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
The Class A team matches are Tuesday and Wednesday and the individual tournament is Thursday and Friday.
In Tuesday's 6A semifinals, Prahl defeated Pine City's Parker Sell 6-2, 6-0, and he then downed Pine City's Santiago Ostino 6-1, 7-5 in the championship match.
Green and Madsen won their doubles semifinals match 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 over Foley's Mitchell Wruck and Jacob Hageman. But the Foley team of Jordan Ziwicki and Logan Scott defeated Green and Madsen 6-3, 6-3 in the championship match.
Section 4A Boys
Community Christian School's Brett Reid sits in first place following day one of the Section 4A meet at Brookview Golf Course in Golden Valley.
Reid posted a field-low 74, just one stroke better than BOLD's Mason Mages. CCS was the top-finishing area team with a 336, just five strokes behind first place Mounds Park.

Gopher Road Trip June 5
The University of Minnesota's annual Gopher Road Trip is returning to Johnny O'Neil's Green Lake Social in Spicer at 11:30 a.m., Monday, June 5.
The Road Trip this year features athletics director Mark Coyle, as well as P.J. Fleck, Richard Pitino, Hugh McCutcheon, Marlene Stollings, Stefanie Golan and other Gopher coaches.
