Prep Football: Undefeated Spartans edge Willmar

COLD SPRING—For a third consecutive week, Willmar's game was decided by a two-point margin.

For the second time in that span, the Cardinals were on the losing end of the affair, falling 28-26 to Rocori on Wednesday.

Willmar fell to 4-4 on the season, while No. 4 Rocori improved to 8-0 and earned the top seed in Section 8AAAA.

Noah Slagter caught a 10-yard touchdown from Drey Dirksen late in the fourth quarter, but the two-point conversion to tie the game failed.

One last two-minute drill for the Cardinals came up short with a Spartans interception on fourth down.

Slagter added a punt return for a touchdown in the second quarter to put Willmar on the board, and Ethan Roux had a rushing touchdown for the Cardinals.

Ridgewater 3, St. Cloud Tech 2

Ridgewater's Cami Sletta slammed home 20 kills as the Warriors defeated Minnesota College Athletic Conference rivals St. Cloud Technical College in five sets.

Jamie Goblirsch provided plenty of support from the back row with 37 digs.

"This match had the energy, effort and excitmenet of a postseason match," said Warriors head coach Joe Sussenguth. "Both teams recognized the importance of what was at stake. We didn't have one of our most stable matches, there were stretches of inconsistency. However, most of the match, the drive to compete was there. Our teams match up very well, we are very similar in our aggressiveness and style of play."

The Warriors now move to first place in the division.
