Prep Volleyball: BOLD opens 2A playoffs with win

OLIVIA — BOLD started the Section 2A playoffs with a convincing 3-0 win against Nicollet, winning in straight sets on Monday.

Makayla Snow set the tone with six service aces and 22 set assists as Makenna Steffel's 10 kills and three solo blocks paced the home team.

Rachel Dean was unstoppable Monday night for Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart with 19 kills and seven solo blocks on Monday to keep her Mustangs' Section 2A playoff run alive.

The Mustangs won the first two sets and needed to rally for a 15-12 fifth set victory to take the match.

The win sets up a meeting with the top-seeded Mayer Lutheran Thursday in Mayer.

Yellow Medicine East's Mackenzie Dyrdahl logged nine service aces and six kills as the Sting stayed alive with a 3-0 win in the opening round of the Section 3A playoffs on Monday.

Anna McCosh also finished with six kills and added two solo blocks in a strong defensive effort.

YME will move on to face Wabasso, the No. 4 seed in the Section 3A-North tournament Friday in Wabasso.
