Prep Tennis: Litchfield takes fifth place in Class A

MINNEAPOLIS - The Litchfield tennis team won the consolation championship with a 6-1 victory over Virginia at the Class A state tournament on Wednesday at the Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center.

Shanna Kinny, Natalie Nelson, Elise Bierbaum and Alanis Thesenvitz won singles matches, and the Dragons' doubles teams of Laney Huhner and Avery Stilwell and Neriah Lara and Vaida Behnke also earned points.

The Blake School defeated Holy Family 7-0 to win its third-straight championship, and Rochester Lourdes defeated Osakis 6-1 in the third-place match.

The Class A and Class AA individual tournament begins today.
