Section 3A swimmers looking to punch their ticket to the state meet hit the pool Thursday night at Willmar High School in the first of the two day meet.
Willmar's 200-yard freestyle relay team made of Moira Revier, Avery Welsh, Edyn Saulsbury and Amanda Mathiasen put up a strong showing with a second-place finish in 1:40.42. Their time mark was a state-qualifying mark. Revier, Welsh and Saulsbury were joined by Josie Miller to finish in fourth place in the 400-yard freestyle relay, too, finishing less than a full second away from qualifying for state.
Also finishing in the top 16 for the Cardinals and clinching a spot in Saturday's festivities is the 200 medley relay team (Revier, Ava Brogren, Anna Peterson and Mathiasen) took sixth place; Edyn Saulsbury took 13th place in the 200-yard freestyle; Mathiasen took sixth place and Revier took ninth place in the 50-yard freestyle; Welsh took 14th place and Miller took 16th place in the 100-yard freestyle; Brogren took 11th place in the 100-yard breaststroke.
