Girls basketball: Thunstedt sets Wildcats’ all-time scoring record
Tribune Staff Report
New London-Spicer junior Taylor Thunstedt is tops among an illustrious list of Wildcats scorers and she has a chance to become the Tribune area’s top point producer.
Thunstedt scored 10 points on Tuesday to break the school’s 20-year-old all-time scoring record set by Tracy (Hanson) Reimer, a 1993 NLS graduate.
Thunstedt entered the game needing four points to equal Reimer’s mark of 1,798. Thunstedt now had 1,804 points with at least four games left this season and also her entire senior season.
Thunstedt has a good shot at topping the Tribune’s all-time scorer, 2010 Hancock graduate Bree Holleman, who finished her prep career with 2,305 points.
Thunstedt had to leap over a number of great NLS competitors to reach the record. There are 13 Wildcats players who have surpassed 1,000 career points.
Thunstedt also is the third area athlete to break her school’s all-time scoring record. BOLD junior Carly Sigurdson recently set the Warriors’ career mark, as did Benson’s Emma Peterson.
